Clefnotes: Southern Oregon University hires new Director of ...

Southern Oregon University has appointed David Humphrey to direct its performing arts department. Humphrey has 30 years of management and artistic production experience, according to the college.? Most recently he directed San Francisco's Museum of Performance & Design. Before that, he worked at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., as Director of Education and as executive producer of a joint project between The Kennedy Center and the Metropolitan Opera Guild.

Southern Oregon University's Department of Performing Arts includes 46 full and part-time faculty.

In a press release, the college also announced new faculty joining the department this fall. They include James Donlon who brings a four-decade career in mime, movement, dance, clowning, masks, puppetry and circus.

Jeff Richmond will teach advanced music theory, jazz performance and trumpet performance. Jackie Apodaca joined the performing arts faculty last fall after a 20-year career in theatre, film and commercial production. He will team up with Robert Clift, professor in the Communication Department, to develop a film and digital media program serving theater and communication students.
